Kavanagh woke up to Lorne singing “Good Morning Sunshine”, completely out of tune. He rolled his eyes affectionately, smiled and turned over, aiming to move closer to his lover, but the bed was empty. Surprised, he opened his eyes. Nick wasn’t in the room and the voice was coming from his alarm clock. Confused, he let it play whilst looking around.
It was still dark outside but he could see the outline of a person sitting on the balcony attached to the room. His room was more of a storage closet, but Atlantis’ second-in-command, had much more comfortable accommodation. He slipped on his boxers and wrapped the blanket around him, walking out into the cool early morning air.
“Good morning sunshine.” Nick greeted, unnaturally cheerful for the time. He was dressed just in his dogtags and a pair of Kavanagh’s boxers, that were slightly too large for him and therefore were sliding down his hips.
Kavanagh glared and sat down next to him, on the sheet spread across the floor. “There’d better be a damn good reason you got me out of bed and onto a cold, hard floor.”
“There is. I got a little packet from the Daedalus yesterday.” He winked lewdly and reached to the side of him, bringing out a small tube of chocolate-flavoured lube.
“Oh…,” Kavanagh started, momentarily appeased. “And there was some reason your nice large bed wouldn’t work.”
“Sssh.” Lorne said, snaking an arm around his back, resting his head on the scientist’s shoulder and pointing in front of them.
On the horizon, the first few rays of light were beginning to become visible. They sat and watched, in companionable silence, as the sun rose, filling the sky with a breathtakingly beautiful display of oranges and yellows.
“Good morning sweetheart.” Lorne whispered, pulling Kavanagh into a passionate kiss, as the sun reached its height.
